Is Kratom Legal? USA & Canada Guide (2026)

Is kratom legal - USA state laws and Canada rules guide

Always check your current state, county, and city laws before ordering — kratom rules change. This page is general information, not legal advice.

United States

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is not federally scheduled in the USA, but several states and many cities/counties restrict or ban it. States with statewide bans have historically included Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin — plus restricted areas in states like California (San Diego), Colorado (Denver), Florida (Sarasota County), Illinois (Jerseyville, Alton, others), Mississippi (various counties), and more. Some states (e.g., Utah, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Oklahoma) have passed Kratom Consumer Protection Acts regulating sale by age and labeling.

We do not ship to addresses where kratom is prohibited. Orders placed from restricted areas will be cancelled and refunded. When in doubt, contact us before ordering.

Canada

In Canada, kratom is not a controlled substance for possession, but Health Canada has not approved kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) for human consumption — it cannot be sold as a food, supplement, or natural health product, and imports may be stopped at the border. Canadian buyers must review federal and provincial rules and border policies before attempting any international botanical order. Our content for Canada is informational; cross-border botanical shipments carry seizure/refusal risk.

Worldwide

Kratom is banned or controlled in many countries (including Australia, much of the EU, UK, Thailand historically, Malaysia, and others). We primarily serve the USA. International shipping availability varies — ask first.
